Some authors are ready to jump in with both feet. Others want to dip a toe in first.
No matter where you are in your writing journey, I am here to help.

Note: I am not currently accepting books with adult language or steamy, LGBT+, or demonic genres. If you have a question about if your manuscript falls into one of these categories, please use the contact us form and ask! Thank you for your understanding.
CRITIQUE PARTNER, ALPHA READER, BETA READER
If you need someone to bounce ideas off of while you write, I am willing to become your critique partner. You can email as many times and about as many ideas as you want and I will respond in a timely fashion. I will ask you questions, offer out-of-the-box ideas, and push back with "devil's advocate" to help you flesh out your ideas to become the best they can be. Rates will vary based on extent of input requested but begin at $25/per week or $100/per month.
An alpha reader is for a few chapters at a time as you write. I read your first rough draft and provide feedback on the appropriateness of where the story seems to be going. You can expect a paragraph or two of notes per chapter. Rates will vary based on genre.
Beta readers come after your first self-edit. This feedback is more involved than alpha reader feedback. You can expect notes throughout your manuscript about first impressions of plot, readability, and flow of your story; genre, audience, and POV appropriateness; major plot holes; and anything else than made me pause in reading your story. Rates will vary. Manuscripts under 10k words - starts at $20

EDITORIAL EVALUATION
(also called a Manuscript Critique)
This is a great first edit for most manuscripts, since it's not really an edit. This evaluation looks at how your book fits together and how the characters relate to each other. It is my alternative to offering a developmental edit. I take an overall look at the plot, subplot, and character development of your manuscript. You will receive a review of action, narration, and dialogue pacing in a critique letter with suggestions to improve the manuscript. You may also receive recommendations to cut, condense, add, or reword scenes. Since this looks at the big picture of your manuscript, it may still need editing at the paragraph, sentence, and word levels. Rates will vary. Manuscripts under 10k words - starts at $20
BOOK SKETCH
I recommend this for every series and also for any "pantser" writing a standalone novel, although any book of any length can benefit from this. My book sketch includes all proper nouns arranged alphabetically, organized by type. Each main character and significant side character gets his own character sheet of 10-15 questions. This book sketch will help you keep names and places straight as you write so you don't end up with three guys named Smith. Rates will vary. Manuscripts under 10K words - starts at $10 per book
LINE EDIT
(US Markets Only)
A line edit usually comes after a developmental edit, because a line edit looks at each chapter and breaks down each scene. Dialogue, narration, and action are considered line by line with suggestions for improvement or tightening. The overall readability and flow of each scene are considered with possible recommendations to cut, condense, or reword sections. I help you break down your manuscript so you can build something even stronger. Some manuscripts will receive as few as two or three notes per page; others may receive an alternate wording suggestion for almost every sentence, but my goal is to help you create a masterpiece, not rewrite your book in my voice.
This service comes with two complete rounds. The first is a true line edit, and the second is a copy edit where I focus more on major grammar errors with multiple ways of properly rewording (two complete sentences, one sentence with a semicolon, or one compound sentence). You can expect notes throughout your manuscript about word choice, sentence rhythm, syntax, showing vs telling, active vs passive, confusing or "clunky" phrases, and too many pronouns, to name a few. This edit does not include proofreading. Rates will vary. Manuscripts under 10k words - starts at $50

PROOFREADING
This is the last step of editing. I follow the Chicago Manual of Style and focus solely on spelling, minor grammar errors like subject/verb agreement, and punctuation errors. I do not format your manuscript. Rates will vary. Manuscripts under 10k words - starts at $40
